The unique culture of the New Zealand Army has been shaped and defined by a range of complementary influences. These include the martial traditions of the British soldier and the Maori warrior; our history, heritage and experience of war; and the characteristics of wider New Zealand society.
Our culture helps develop and maintain espirit de corps, gives us a sense of our place as New Zealanders and (especially) New Zealand soldiers, and informs our doctrinal approach to operations.
