Late Last Night, Riots Broke Out in a City Square

An innocent civilian is now trapped in the middle of the action. Three armed men are leading the riot, with just one flashlight between them. One is making demands through a megaphone, but you cannot understand the language he is speaking in. It is your job to arrange the safe recovery of the trapped civilian. You have four team members positioned in different areas of the city, but can send in only three of them.
Who would you order to stay behind?
- The Intelligence Operator, highly trained in predicting enemy movements
- The close protection body guard, a weapons expert, but with only a single pistol
- The communications systems expert, equipped with night vision goggles, who can operate any radio, phone or recording device
- The linguist with a flashlight and excellent athletic ability
Answer: C. You should leave behind the Comms expert.
You may not need the night vision goggles and the aforementioned flashlight may be irrelevant because although we state that the riot broke out ‘late last night’, we have no indication of what time it is NOW. Also, equipment, unlike skill, is something that can be re-distributed before the soldiers go in. It is the comms expert's skills that would be least applicable to this situation.
