One of the immediate aims of the Army Education Policy is to encourage tertiary study amongst officers and soldiers in order to raise professional knowledge and standing. Voluntary tertiary education is available on application through the Military Studies Institute.
It is increasingly possible, through the tertiary relationships the NZ Army is developing, for officers and soldiers to earn the majority of a requisite qualifications in the normal course of their military careers. By using the advantages offered by joint agreements between the Military Studies Institute and universities, officers and soldiers are able to accelerate opportunities to attain university graduate status.
Opportunities are also available to undertake NZ Army funded education through TOPNZ, NZ Correspondence School and numerous Polytechnics throughout the country.
