Pathway to a Career in the NZSAS
Operational experience, professionalism and the unrelenting pursuit of excellence are hallmarks of every NZSAS soldier. If you think you have supreme commitment and self-discipline, this may be the career path for you. Military personnel from either the regular or reserve component of the NZ Defence Force can apply to join the NZSAS. The majority of applicants have generally had at least two years military experience. Applicants need to be physically fit and have a high level of motivation.
"Who Dares Wins" is the motto of the NZSAS. In the end if you want it badly enough, you’ll get it. Check out the steps you’ll need to take to become a badged member of the NZSAS.

A four-part documentary series on the NZSAS will be screened on TV3's Inside New Zealand at 8:30 pm each Thursday night from 24 May to 14 June. Inside the NZSAS: First Among Equals includes archive footage and faces of existing unit members have been obscured to preserve their privacy and safety. "This documentary is about informing the wider public of the NZSAS without compromising operational disclosure or posing any threat to serving members," said Chief of Army Maj Gen Lou Gardiner.
Each episode focuses on a different stage of a soldiers' enrolment into the unit:
Episode 1: Covers the selection process where fifty hopefuls are weeded down to just six.
Episode 2: Covers the first cycle of training and the badging ceremony where candidates receive the coveted sand coloured beret and blue corps belt.
Episode 3: Covers advanced counter terrorism training. Only five members of the original group are left.
Episode 4: The group are assigned to one of four specialist troops and each member undergoes specific training to prepare them for their first active mission.
