Specialist Officers (as in the list below) are employed within the Army for their professional skills. These positions are military and therefore Specialist Officers have similar conditions of service to other members of the NZ Army.

Specialist Officer careers are dependant on vacancies. Specialist Officers are commissioned as soon as they pass the Officer Selection Board and join the Army. In your first year of service, you will complete the seven week Specialist Officer Induction Course in Waiouru.
