8 February 2010

In partnership with the New Zealand Defence Force, Pataka museum in Porirua, Wellington, has just opened an exhibition about Bamyan Province, the area of Afghanistan that most of our troops deploy to if they are sent to that part of the world.

The exhibition is part of Wellington’s International Festival of the Arts, and will run until 23 May 2010. It explores the history of the Bamyan region through images of the people, their culture, and the landscape.

Admission is free.

The exhibition will be complemented by a panel talk on Bamyan at 2pm on Sunday, 14 March by three NZDF personnel who have experienced the region first-hand:

  • Major Lynne Smith
  • SGT Nik Clement
  • SGT Craig Harnett

More about the exhibition can be found at the nzfestival website: www.nzfestival.nzpost.co.nz
