Waiata and traditional dance added to the joyful vibrant atmosphere of the day's celebrations. The welcome ceremony at the steps of Tukaki, the meeting house, allowed many to actively participate in the formalities of the hui. Photo portraits of ancestors and former soldiers were placed at the porch of the meeting house for the hui.
