Defence Long Term

The Long Term Development Plan (LTDP) is a planning tool to enable decisions on defence acquisitions to be taken in the context of the Government's defence policy.

In correlation with the LTDP the NZ Army has recently received new field communications systems, 105 NZLAVs (Light Armoured Vehicles) and weaponry and technology upgrades.

In addition, the purchase of 188 LOVs (Light Operational Vehicles), 24 Javelin Medium Range Anti Armour Weapons (MRAAW) and an air defence alerting and cueing system to complete the Very Low Level Air Defence (VLLAD) capability has recently been announced.
