What is the NZDF contribution to Iraq?
New Zealand contributes one NZDF officer to support the United Nations Assistance Mission Iraq (UNAMI).
What is his role?
As a military advisor the NZDF officer provides the link between the UN and the Multinational Force and Iraqi Security Forces. This includes coordinating security for the UN, leading UN missions outside the organisation’s three areas of operation and providing military advice to the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General.
Where is the NZDF officer based?
The New Zealand officer in Iraq is based in Baghdad.
